Wexford to Dingle
When The Real Irish Journey Begins
Lunch Break in Kinsale
Paul calls a taxi from Killiane to take us to Wexford so we can rent another Enterprise. Fortunately this rental car is smaller than the one in England.
The rental went easily enough and driving out of Wexford was fairly easy with not too many right turns. Right turns cross oncoming traffic and can still be harrowing.
Kinsale, Ireland
Kinsale is on the South East coast south of Waterford on our journey to Ventry on the Dingle Pennesula.
Our first stop, Kinsale. County Cork, Ireland. The streets were tight & very hilly down to the waterfront. Fortunately we found a parking spot half way down the hill reasonably close to the restaurant, “The Bullman”. Known as a good lunch stop, we popped in at about 11:30. It was crowded already with many more following us.
We were promptly seated and Tracy mentioned that “it’s crowded”, the server said “Actually it’s a slow day so far”. As always, the Fish & Chips was fresh and really good.
Charles Fort
Just up the street is the Charles Fort, one of the larger forts of Ireland, first completed in 1607.

The following are a sample of vignettes as we walked through the fort.

Kinsale is a charming port city, but we have quite a way to go to get to Ventry, south of Dingle town.
We certainly didn’t want to navigate small Irish country roads in the dark.
